Johnny Depp Set Off Investigation That Led To Capture Of Hollywood Peeping Tom
SHERMAN OAKS (CBSLA.com) — It was reportedly while working on "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" that actor Johnny Depp heard talk of a possible Peeping Tom on set.
According to "The Daily Mail," Depp became suspicious of assistant director Kevin Thomas Roy, 38, and asked his security detail to investigate.
But nothing apparently turned up on a background check, the website reports.
Meanwhile, Roy was in charge of all the trailers and bathrooms on the "Pirates" set, which were used by actresses Penelope Cruz and Judi Dench.
Roy's now former wife, who was married to him at the time, notified police after finding voyeuristic images and videos on his computers, The Daily Mail said. They say she told authorities she became aware Roy had a problem three weeks before their wedding but hoped that she could help him overcome it.
Months later, she allegedly discovered more than 40 videos and 400 photos of women, taken by hidden cameras in on-set bathrooms and movie trailers. Others were up-skirt shots taken at the Sherman Oaks Galleria, a Target store, and inside the bathroom at his own home, the website reports.
The Daily Mail says Roy may have also targeted Amber Heard, Scarlett Johansson and Bond girl Olga Kurylenko on other movie sets.
After news of the covertly-taken photos emerged, Lionsgate fired Roy from the set of their new movie "Allegiant," according to Jezebel online.
The Daily Mail reports Roy has pleaded no contest to invasion of privacy charges.
