Jobless Rate Unchanged Despite 12 Straight Months Of Jobs Added
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A yearlong streak of new jobs in California has done little to change the state's unemployment rate, according to data released Friday.

Employers added 25,200 jobs statewide in July, the largest month-over-month increase in the nation, according to Loree Levy with the state Employment Development Department.
Levy said while jobs were added in education and health services as well as leisure and hospitality, the best performer was professional and business services which added 10,300 jobs last month.
"This is a lot of the high-tech, high-wage jobs you like to see out there in the economy, in addition to some temporary kind of employment services type of jobs over the month," said Leevee.
The unemployment rate was unchanged at 10.7 percent, but still down from a peak of 12.4 percent in 2010.
A total of 540,000 people were unemployed in July in Los Angeles County, which has a labor force of about 4.84 million.
Statewide, about 2 million people were out of work in July, the same as in June.
