Jered Weaver Suspended For 6 Games
(CBS) -- Angels Pitcher Jered Weaver has been suspended for six games for intentionally throwing at the head of All-Star Alex Avila's head during Sunday's game against Detroit.
Things became heated when Magglio Ordonez homered off Weaver, and watched the ball sail into the stands.
Weaver apparently shouted to Ordonez to run, even though Ordonez may have thought the homer was going to be a foul ball.
The Tigers were not happy with Weaver for yelling at Ordonez, and when Carlos Guillen homered in the seventh inning, Guillen "showed-up" Weaver.
The next pitch thrown by Weaver sailed over Avila's head, getting him tossed.
Weaver will appeal his suspension.
Mike Scioscia was suspended for a game, which he will serve on Tuesday night.
