Jared Goff Named Rams Starting QB Against Dolphins
THOUSAND OAKS (CBSLA) -- "We want Goff", "We want Goff." Those were the chants at the last home game where the Rams lost to the Carolina Panthers. Well this Sunday, you will see him.
Jared Goff will make his NFL debut at the Coliseum against the Miami Dolphins when the No. 1 pick starts for the Los Angeles Rams at 1 p.m.
Rams coach Jeff Fisher made the official announcement at practice Tuesday.
"I was getting closer and closer over the last couple of weeks and I felt this was the best time to go ahead and turn the keys over to Jared. I'm excited for him," Fisher said.
Goff watched the first nine games of his rookie season on the sideline for the Rams (4-5), who have one of the NFL's least successful offenses. Veteran Case Keenum has started every game.
"I expect to do what it takes to win," Goff said. "Whatever it takes, if it's handing the ball of alot, I wanna win, I wanna be the quarterback for this team for a long time."
But the Rams decided it's time to see what they've got in Goff after the offense failed to score a touchdown in last weekend's 9-6 victory over the New York Jets.
