Jared Goff Signs $28M Rookie Contract With Rams
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Jared Goff, the Los Angeles Rams' quarterback of the future, officially inked his rookie deal with the team Thursday afternoon.
The quarterback signed a four-year contract, and as with all first-round contracts under the current CBA, the deal comes with a fifth-year option.
Goff's contract is reported to be worth $27.9 million with an $18.6 million signing bonus.
Due to the rookie pay scale in the NFL, Goff's contract will pay him slightly more than the second overall pick Carson Wentz, who was taken by the Philadelphia Eagles and is set to earn $26.6M over four years.
The Rams were able to get the deal done ahead of next week's mandatory mini-camp, which will allow the rookie QB to take part in full participation.
For Jeff Fisher's perennially 7-9 squad, which lacked a functional quarterback, Goff - who's expected to start the season as the team's starting QB by beating out Case Keen - is seen as the missing piece to finally getting over the hump.
