Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Wraps Up SoCal Visit
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Thursday spoke to hundreds of Jewish community leaders about issues affecting the religion worldwide on his final day in the Southland.
Netanyahu spoke at the Simon Wiesenthal Center's Museum of Tolerance at 9 a.m. on topics including Israel, the Middle East peace process and Iran's nuclear program.
The Israeli Prime Minister arrived in Southern California Tuesday, meeting with local business leaders and attending the premiere of an Israel tourism film he's featured in at Paramount Pictures in Hollywood.
He then traveled to Northern California to meet with Gov. Jerry Brown early Wednesday, where they formally signed an economic cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening economic ties between California and Israel. He also met with officials from Silicon Valley tech firms including Apple, WhatsApp, LinkedIn and Ebay during the visit.
Netanyahu returned to the Southland Wednesday evening and caused an approximately five-mile rush-hour backup on the southbound side of PCH between Malibu Canyon and Topanga Canyon.
He left LAX around 1 p.m.
