Irvine Homes Evacuated As Family Of 5 Escapes 3-Alarm Fire
IRVINE (CBSLA.com) — A number of homes in Irvine were evacuated Tuesday night after a three-alarm fire broke out at a family of five's residence.
The fire, which initially started just after 9 p.m. at 29 Sandstone, quickly spread to a neighboring home. The blaze was extinguished by around 50 firefighters by 10:10 p.m.
A couple, along with their three children between the ages of 2 and 10, were able to get to safety.
The father, however, suffered minor burns to his arm.
The family's black Labrador retriever was rescued by firefighters, but suffered smoke inhalation. She was resuscitated and taken to an emergency animal hospital in Tustin, reported CBS2's Stacey Butler.
The Red Cross was contacted to assist the displaced family.
As of 11 p.m., the homes around the scene of the fire were still evacuated.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
