Irvine Girl's Costume Inspired By Katy Perry Gets Thumbs-Up From Singer
IRVINE (CBSLA.com) – Isabella Sansevero may be the envy of her peers or anyone who dresses up for Halloween. For the past few years, her father has made her elaborate costumes that look like they belong on a stage or a movie set.
This year, the 8-year-old Irvine girl has one more reason to be jealous of. Her over-the-top costume inspired by Katy Perry got a "thumbs-up" from the pop star.
It took her father, Daryl Sansevero, and his costume-designer friend, Giselle Becker, more than 60 hours and $400 to make the "carousel" outfit that lights up and plays music.
When Isabella saw the costume all put together for the first time two days ago, she was beside herself. "I was blown away. I think this was incredible," she said.
Sansevero said he started making fancy costumes for his daughter four years ago as a father-daughter bonding experience.
"All of them started with, hey, dad, I want to be that," said Sansevero. "She thought the little Google android guy was cute. So, I am like we can make that. So, we made it out of a trash can."
Sansevero, who is in the IT business, said he and Becker started making the carousel getup in August and finished it Sunday. He said Becker drew the fabric by hand and printed the fabric digitally.
Isabella's costume for last year was a white peacock made with 300 LED lights, 75 peacock and ostrich feathers and countless Swarovski crystals.
