Investigators Suspect Arson In Pasadena House Fire
PASADENA (CBS) — Investigators believe arson was the cause of a house fire in Pasadena that injured a firefighter and caused a total of $800,000 worth of damage, a fire official said Sunday.
A firefighter fell, injuring his wrist, while battling the blaze at 384 N. Oakland Ave. Paramedics rushed him to Huntington Memorial Hospital for evaluation, said Lisa Derderian of the Pasadena Fire Department.
Crews were dispatched to the large wood frame, two-story home at about 2:15 p.m. Saturday and had the fire out 20 minutes after their arrival, Derderian said.
Derderian says investigators are looking into whether a fire along the 210 Freeway was started by embers from the burning house, or if it was sparked separately.
The fire caused $700,000 to the structure and $100,000 to its contents, she said.
Three adults in the home escaped without injury and were being sheltered Sunday by the Red Cross.
Investigators have yet to release why they believe the cause was arson.
