Major Development To Be Announced In Cold Case Murder Of 15-Year-Old Girl
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Investigators are expected to announce new developments in the decade-old cold case murder of a Southland teenager Friday.
Brenda Sierra, 15, was abducted while on her way to Schurr High School in Montebello in October of 2002. Her body was found the next day in city of Crestline.
Detectives are now asking for the public's help in identifying three people they say are connected to her murder.
"It's been 10 years. It's been too many years to wait for justice," Sierra's older sister, Fabiola Saavedra, told CBS2.
Reporter Suraya Fadel asked Saavedra what she would say to her little sister if she had the chance.
"I promised you that I was going to work hard to bring justice and I will not stop until I bring justice to you," Saavedra responded.
Sierra's family says she was a popular girl and a good student. The teen had celebrated her Quinceañera just before she died.
"My sister didn't have a chance to graduate, and that was her senior year," Saavedra said.
Investigators say they will announce a major development in the case and release sketches of three persons of interest at 10 a.m. Friday.
