Investigation Determines Temecula Man Ran Red Light And Killed Elderly Couple
TEMECULA (CBS) — Authorities have determined that a Temecula man ran a red light and killed an elderly couple Saturday.
Deputies determined that a Hyundai sedan broadsided a Honda CRV as the Honda made a left- turn onto eastbound Rancho California Road from Jefferson Avenue, Riverside County Sheriff's Sgt. John Magnan said.
Amar Jain, 74, and Cheryl Jain, 66, both of Yorba Linda, died at the scene, the sergeant said.
The driver of the Hyundai, Christopher Bostic, was heading west on Rancho California Road when he entered the intersection "against a red light," Magnan said in a statement.
Bostic was taken to an area hospital for unspecified major injuries.
It's too early to say whether alcohol played a role in the crash, Magnan said, as that part of the investigation was ongoing.
Traffic was snarled for more than five hours following the 3:03 p.m. Saturday collision.
