Injury Report: Packers Have Two Out, Long List Of Injured Players
By Danny Cox
The Green Bay Packers are heading into the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs coming off of a huge victory over the Washington Redskins in their Wild Card game. Now, they are ready for the Arizona Cardinals, but they're going to have to hit the field without two players and a rather long injury report.
Tight end Andrew Quarless (knee) and wide receiver Davante Adams (knee) are both out this week and won't be playing at all against the Cardinals. Adams didn't practice at all this past week while Quarless was out there on Wednesday and Thursday on a limited basis, but sat out entirely on Friday.
Cornerback Sam Shields is now out of the NFL's concussion protocol and got some limited work in on the practice field near the end of the week. He is listed as questionable for Saturday's game, but the team is going to wait until game-time to see if there are still any signs of concussion.
Only one other player is listed as questionable and that's cornerback Quinten Rollins who has dealt with a quadricep injury for a while now. He didn't practice at all on Wednesday and was limited on the final two days of practice. He will likely be looked at again before Saturday's game and limited in his snaps.
The list of probable players for the Packers is the longest of all. Although that isn't overly comforting, it is a bit of a relief. That means most of those players will be watched carefully, but should be able to play as needed.
A couple of the most concerning injuries are that of tackle David Bakhtiari (ankle) and running back Eddie Lacy (rib), but they should be able to go. Bakhtiari was limited throughout the week, and the team kept a close eye on him. He is optimistic to play on Saturday though. Lacy was limited on Wednesday and Thursday, but then was a full-go in practice on Friday. There will be nothing keeping him from playing against the Cardinals.
After a bad loss to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 16, the Green Bay Packers need every healthy and able player on the field on Saturday. There are a lot of lingering and nagging injuries, but not enough to keep many names on the injury report off of the field. As for those that will be missing the game, it's going to be up to others to pick up the slack and step up.
Probable:
David Bakhtiari, T (ankle)
Mike Daniels, DT (hamstring)
Jayrone Elliott, LB (quadricep)
Datone Jones, DE (neck)
Eddie Lacy, RB (rib)
T.J. Lang, G (calf)
Mike Neal, LB (hip)
Richard Rogers, TE (hip)
Josh Sitton, G (back)
Questionable:
Quinten Rollins, CB (quadricep)
Sam Shields, CB (concussion)
Out:
Davante Adams, WR (knee)
Andrew Quarless, TE (knee)
