Inglewood Gets $8M Grant To Soundproof 200 Homes
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Congresswoman Maxine Waters says an $8 million federal grant has been awarded to the city of Inglewood to soundproof about 200 buildings in the flight path at Los Angeles International Airport.
The California Democrat said Monday that the Federal Aviation Administration grant will go to the city's residential sound insulation program.
Waters says there have been earlier grants but never enough to cover all the soundproofing needed.
She says noise from planes arriving and departing LAX is disruptive for the families who live there. She calls the new money a relief because some of them have been waiting a long time.
