The three-vehicle crash was reported at 5:27 p.m. at York Boulevard, said Matt Spence of the Los Angeles Fire Department. One of the cars reportedly caught fire.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene, Spence said. KPCC-FM (89.3) reported that the deceased was an infant.
Four others sustained non-life threatening injuries and were taken to hospitals in fair condition, Spence said.
