'Icy Betrayal' A Big Hit For Former Oxnard PD Spokesman
STUDIO CITY (CBSLA.com) — When former Oxnard police community affairs manager and spokesman David Keith retired after nearly 30 years on the force, he might not have been thinking of a second career as an author.
But with his first novel, "Icy Betrayal," earning high marks and a sequel on the way, Keith visited KCAL9 on Sunday morning to discuss that second career with anchor Amy Johnson.
Keith said he got the idea for the book while driving with his youngest daughter to San Diego on a trip to look at colleges.
"I saw something on Interstate 5, here through Los Angeles, and the idea popped into my head for a plot for a book," Keith told Johnson. "I thought about it the rest of the drive down, and when I got home I started typing away, and the next thing I know I had written the first 12 pages of the book."
Amazon has "Icy Betrayal" listed in its top recommended reads and it is listed as a "top rated" book.
