Huskers, Bruins Observe Moment Of Silence For Nick Pasquale
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The UCLA Bruins and Nebraska Huskers observed a moment of silence in honor of UCLA football player Nick Pasquale, who died last Sunday.
Students clad in Nebraska red released 200 blue-and-gold balloons during the tribute before Saturday's nationally televised game.
Both Nebraska and UCLA football players had Pasquale's jersey number affixed to their attire. The Huskers had a helmet decal while the Bruins and their coaches had a No. 36 patch added to their uniforms and attire.
The 20-year-old Pasquale was fatally struck while crossing Camino De Los Mares just west of Calle Nuevo on Sept. 8.
A native of San Clemente, Pasquale was entering his freshman season as a walk-on wide receiver, according to the school's student-run newspaper The Daily Bruin.
Pasquale had played only one game for the Bruins before his death, according to ESPN.
