Hurricane Sandy Continues To Force LAX Flight Cancellations
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Nearly 200 flights remain canceled Tuesday due to Hurricane Sandy on the East Coast, a spokesman for Los Angeles International Airport said.
A statement from Los Angeles World Airport Tuesday said 10 airlines reported 182 cancellations (92 departures and 90 arrivals) to eastern and mid-western U.S. cities including: Boston, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Washington/Dulles, Baltimore/Washington, Chicago/O'Hare and Cleveland.
The airport says some airlines are repositioning aircraft at LAX and other regional airports to prepare for the immediate resumption of flights as soon as weather conditions permit.
Ontario International Airport reports no flight cancellations due to the superstorm.
Officials advise passengers and motorists picking up passengers to check with airlines to verify flights to and from the East Coast, Midwest and London.
Travel experts also recommended flyers check out airline's social media accounts for the most up-to-date information.
There have been more than 14,000 canceled flights nationwide due to the hurricane.
