Huntington Beach To Face Kentucky At Little League World Series
HUNTINGTON BEACH (CBS) — The Ocean View Little League All-Stars Sunday are scheduled to play a team from La Grange, Ky. at the Little League World Series.
Both teams began World Series play in South Williamsport, Pa., Friday with victories.
Huntington Beach defeated the all-stars from the Cumberland American Little League, 11-0. North Oldham, the Great Lakes Region champion, nabbed a 1-0 win over the Mid-Atlantic Region champion, Keystone Little League All-Stars.
Huntington Beach's manager Jeff Pratto says Friday's victory put an end to the kids' jitters about playing in front of a national audience.
"Our foundation is our pitching depth," he added. "Our defense has been reasonably good enough to always compliment the pitching.
"We're not a team that's going to come out and pound five homers in a game. That's just not us. We're a team that does hit some homers, but we're mostly a doubles and singles team."
Sunday's winner will be three victories away from winning the Little League World Series.
