Huntington Beach Man Suspected In Fatal Hit-And-Run Of Bicyclist
FOUNTAIN VALLEY (CBS) — A Huntington Beach man is in custody Monday on suspicion of felony hit-and-run in the death of a cyclist in Fountain Valley.
Police say 19-year-old Adam Garrett fatally struck Hung Khac Do, 25, also of Huntington Beach, while at the wheel of a 1994 Toyota Camry on Warner Avenue at about 3 a.m. Sunday. Do, who had been headed westbound on Warner Avenue, was pronounced dead at 3:42 a.m. at UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange.
Fountain Valley police Lt. Ken Hounsley said someone called the Fountain Valley police, claiming to be a witness with information about the incident. The subsequent investigation revealed the caller was the motorist who struck Do, Hounsley said.
Garrett was arrested and booked into the county jail.
