Hundreds Turn Out To Audition For Title Role In Broadway's 'Spiderman'
HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Hundreds of hopefuls turned out to audition for the role of one of the most recognizable superheroes in a popular Broadway production.
Singers and actors, hoping to land the title role of Spiderman/Peter Parker or his love interest, Mary Jane, in the Broadway production of 'Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark', which is looking coast-to-coast for it's next star.
The auditions took place at Hollywood United Methodist Church around 10:00 a.m.
The show's director, Philip William McKinley, along with the show's original and current star, Reeve Carney, were on hand to help with the casting and meet with the actors before the auditions began.
"I think the most rewarding part about being able to play this duel-role of Peter Parker/Spiderman is connecting with those parts of yourself that are most in kinship with that character because its something that kind of helps you truly rise above to the highest version of yourself," Carney said.
All those auditioning were required to prepare a rock song and perform it along with a piano for the director.
"I just moved here from Arkansas, I have been in town a month and a week, exactly," prospective actor/singer Collin Keaton, who auditioned for the title role, said. "And this is my first major audition for anything, ever."
