Hundreds Of Fans Line Up Early For U2 Concert In Anaheim
ANAHEIM (CBS) — It's never too early to get "The Edge" for hundreds of die-hard U-2 fans who began camping out as early as Wednesday for tonight's concert in Anaheim.
A estimated 50,000 people are expected to head down to Angel Stadium on Friday night for the return of one of the most famous bands in the world, but open seating and the end to the workweek has brought many fans out early.
One fan told CBS2's Kristine Lazar that he arrived at 5 a.m. to get a head-start on the crowds.
"You got to buy your tickets about a year in advance, and they postponed this concert so we've been preparing," said the fan.
"We had to come the night before to get our name on a list so we could occupy this spot," he added.
Field seats for the show starting at 7 p.m. are general admission, so fans are trying to get as close to the stage as possible when the gates open.
City officials are also warning of heavy traffic delays around the venue and are urging attendees to consider carpooling or public transportation such as the Metrolink station located in the stadium parking lot.
Alternate off-site parking will be available at Honda Center and other areas surrounding Angel Stadium.
