How To Never Lose Your Luggage Again

While fewer bags are being lost by the airlines these days, people (including baggage handlers) are still stealing them! Yea, people suck. Which is why Air France and KLM have spent the last year developing two gadgets that help prevent luggage from being lifted.

Designed to sync with your smartphone using the FlyingBlue app, eTrack is a simple LoJack-like homing beacon that you program with your flight details and pop into your luggage before heading to the airport. From there, you can follow your bag's travels around the globe, keeping tabs on its exact location from the comfort of seat 22B.

eTag, on the other hand, is a "high-tech luggage label" that affixes to the outside of the bag and replaces the airline's routing sticker. Because it's electronic (and also syncs with your phone), you don't need to relabel the bag for each trip -- your flight details are updated automatically. Even better, once you own an eTag -- no more checking-in your suitcase! Nope, you simply deposit it at the airport's fast bag drop and go grab a cup of coffee or beer.

While the devices will be sold separately, super-anal passengers can -- like wearing a belt AND suspenders -- use the eTag and eTrack together. And uber security-conscious fliers can even use the devices with Samsonite's Track and Trace suitcase, ensuring nobody is walking away with their favorite business casual sweatsedo.

The eTag and eTrack won't hit the market until the end of the year, but you can see how they work in this handsome promotional video.
