Housekeeper Held At Gunpoint As Trio Makes Off With $45K In Cash, Jewelry
SANTA MONICA (CBS) — Police are on the hunt for three home invasion robbers who held a gun on the housekeeper of a five-bedroom home in Santa Monica as they helped themselves to more than $45,000 in cash and jewelry.
The home is located off Berkeley street.
The homeowners chose not to identify themselves to CBS2's Rita Garcia on camera, but they told her what happened Friday afternoon.
The housekeeper said three men came to the front door and said something about being lost. There was a language barrier and the men reportedly then asked her if she was home alone.
She said yes -- and that's when the men brandished guns.
Garcia spoke to neighbors who said the crime itself was bad enough, but that it also happened in broad daylight is giving them pause.
One told Garcia this brazen crime was a reminder to always lock your doors and be vigilant.
Police confirmed to Garcia that they were scanning security video and "working on some pretty good leads."
They also told her they expect to have good suspect descriptions by Monday as well as a look at the suspect's vehicle. The housekeeper reportedly described the vehicle as a newer-model crew-cab truck.
