Kemp Keeps Consecutive Game Streak Alive With 9th Inning Pinch-Hit HR
DENVER (CBS/AP) -- Slugger Matt Kemp was scratched from the Los Angeles Dodgers' lineup at Colorado on Friday night because of tightness in his left hamstring.
Kemp is hitting .329 with an NL-best 18 homers and 53 RBIs. He's been torrid this month, going 14 for 28 with five homers and 13 RBIs on the first seven games of the Dodgers' 10-game trip.
He came up a single shy of the cycle Thursday night in L.A.'s 9-7 loss to the Rockies.
With the Dodgers trailing 6-0 in the 9th inning, Matt Kemp entered the game and slugged a monster HR, his 19th of the season. The HR ignited the Dodgers offense, scoring 5 times in the the inning, but Colorado held on with a 6-5 victory.
Kemp has the longest current streak in the big leagues of consecutive games played with 269.
