Horse Rescued In Sylmar After Falling Down Ravine

SYLMAR (CBSLA.com) —  A horse fell from a trail into a ravine above Sylmar Saturday  afternoon, prompting firefighters to launch a hoist operation to rescue the  animal.

Firefighters were called about 2 p.m. to the area of Little Tujunga  Canyon Road and Marek Motorway, according to the Los Angeles County Fire  Department.

The horse was hoisted to safety about 5:40 p.m., said county fire  Dispatch Supervisor Cheryl Sims.

No humans were injured in the rescue effort.

County fire department camp and helicopter crews were also dispatched. An  urban search and rescue team responded as did personnel from Angeles National  Forest, Sims said.

The Los Angeles Fire Department also sent two helicopters to assist in  the rescue.
