Homicide Detectives Probe Fatal Shooting Of 22-Year-Old Woman In Barstow Allegedly By Her Step-Brother
BARSTOW (CBSLA.com) — Homicide detectives in Barstow are investigating the fatal shooting of a 22-year-old woman allegedly at the hands of her step-brother.
Deputies were called to a residence in the 25000 block of Avenida Laredo around 2:20 a.m. Saturday about a shooting that occurred during a party.
On arrival, they discovered a 22-year-old woman shot to death. The victim, later identified as Samantha Hedger of Phelan, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Homicide investigators learned the victim and suspect, (later identified as her step-brother) went to a party at the location and while there, Joshua Inscho, 23, of Victorville, got into a fight with another man.
During the argument, Inscho allegedly pulled out a handgun, and pointed it at another party guest. At that time, authorities said the victim and another person grabbed Inscho and he fired the gun striking the victim.
Inscho fled the location in a vehicle. Barstow deputies, Victorville Deputy Higuera and a K-9 ifficer, CHP and Specialized Enforcement units searched the area and located Inscho reportedly hiding in a storm drain just after 9 a.m.
The suspect was taken into custody without incident. He will be booked on a murder charge, officials said.
