'Home Improvement' Actor Arrested In Burbank On Drug Charge
BURBANK (CBS) — The actor who played the youngest Taylor brother on the show "Home Improvement" was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of driving under the influence of marijuana.
Taran Noah Smith, 27, was arrested about 1:30 a.m. in front of Burbank High School at Third Street and Burbank Boulevard.
Police saw a 1998 Honda Accord parked at an angle in a red zone near a fire hydrant and approached it, Burbank police Sgt. Darin Ryburn said. Officers outside the car, which had its engine running and its driver-side window down, could smell the odor of burning marijuana.
Smith was the only person in the car. He failed to satisfactorily pass a field sobriety test and was taken to jail for booking, Ryburn said.
When officers searched the car, they found a substance "consistent with some type of marijuana," Ryburn said. Smith was booked at Glendale jail on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, but posted $10,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on March 1.
Smith played Mark Taylor, the youngest of three brothers, on the award-winning show until it ended in 1999.
