DeMille's "The King of Kings," and since then has been one of the most popular locales for Hollywood movie premieres. Families will enjoy seeing the hand and foot-prints of their favorite celebrities in the cement of the theater's forecourt. Originally established in 1926 as "Hollywood's First Home of Spoken Drama," El Capitan Theater was a center of activity for Hollywood's live theater community in the 1920s and 1930s. In 1941, the theater hosted the world premiere of Orson Welles' Academy Award-winning film "Citizen Kane," and was then closed for remodeling to re-emerge as The Hollywood Paramount – a modern movie theater. From 1989 – 1991 the theater was remodeled again – restored to its original state via a partnership between the Walt Disney Company and Pacific Theaters. Today it is the exclusive first-run theater for Disney pictures. In addition families can enjoy live performances and showings of classic Disney pictures on the big screen. Situated across the street from the Hollywood & Highland entertainment complex, the El Capitan Theater's Spanish Colonial exterior and East-Indian design interior are stunning.

Additionally, children will enjoy having their pictures taken with some of their favorite characters from the big screen – including Batman & Robin, Megatron & Optimus Prime, Lightning McQueen & Mater, and Cinderella & Snow White – and everything in between. They can usually be found on Hollywood Boulevard in front of the Hollywood & Highland Center on Hollywood Boulevard at Highland.

After a certain point the kids could get tired of all of the looking and walking. Good thing the Hollywood & Highland entertainment complex has Lucky Strike – accessible from Highland Avenue. Complete with 12 lanes (bumpers for the kids, too), a classic photo booth and food and beverage for all, Lucky Strike is a great place to have some family fun. At 7 p.m. the alley is 21 + only and transforms into a bona fide night spot with a DJ spinning mash-ups…in the event that mom and dad have the ability to get out for an evening of fun later.
