Hollywood 'News Of The World' Reporter Arrested In London In Hacking Probe

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — An award-winning journalist who covered Hollywood for the now-defunct "News of the World" was arrested in London on Thursday on phone hacking allegations.

The charges are believed to be linked to events preceding James Desborough's move to Los Angeles in 2009.

CBS News correspondent Larry Miller told KNX 1070 there is no evidence that Desborough compromised any big names in the entertainment industry.

Desborough won the British Press Award for show business reporter of the year in 2009 and worked for the Rupert Murdoch-owned paper from 2005 up until its closure last month.

Miller noted that Desborough first joined "News Of The World" at a time when "a showbiz reporter there at the time was arrested along with a private investigator for hacking into the telephone of Princes William and Harry".

Both the reporter and the private investigator served several months in prison for the charges, Miller added.

The arrest marks the 13th this year so far in an investigation that has continue to batter the image of the paper's parent company, News Corp.
