Hollywood Chamber Of Commerce Confirms Prince Does Not Have A Walk Of Fame Star
HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Prince, who had dozens of Billboard Top 40 hits and became one of the first recording artists to stream his music online, does not have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, officials said Wednesday.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, who manages the Walk of Fame, confirmed there is currently no star bearing the artist's stage moniker or real name, Prince Rogers Nelson.
According to Walk of Fame spokeswoman Ana Martinez, Prince was never nominated, nor was paperwork ever sent in to finalize a star for the 57-year-old singer, who died Thursday after battling flu-like symptoms for weeks.
Plans for a candlelight vigil were instead scheduled for 6 p.m. at Leimart Park in South Los Angeles.
Meanwhile, social media was still stunned that a celebrity as well-known as Prince was not on the Walk of Fame.
While Prince's absence on the Walk of Fame may seem surprising, famous celebrities like George Clooney, Al Pacino, Angelina Jolie and others are reportedly among those who are currently star-less.
Meanwhile, lesser-known personalities like John Tesh, Terry Bradshaw and the Victoria's Secret Angels and fictional characters such as Bugs Bunny, Kermit The Frog and Tinkerbell all have their names etched into Tinseltown history.
