Hit-And-Run Driver Suspected Of Fatally Striking Pedestrian In OC Arrested

NEWPORT BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A 21-year-old woman who allegedly fled from the scene of a fatal hit-and-run collision in Newport Beach has been arrested, police said Saturday.

According to the Newport Beach Police Department, the crash unfolded just after 1 a.m. in the intersection of Newport Boulevard and 30th Street.

Police responded to the scene after receiving a 911 call reporting a hit-and-run traffic collision in the area.

Upon their arrival, paramedics transported a male pedestrian to a hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries where he later died.

According to police, the victim has been identified as Christopher Roth, 24, of Cypress.

A preliminary investigation revealed the pedestrian was struck by a vehicle while walking in the intersection.

The hit-and-run driver fled from the scene without stopping to render aid to the victim after she struck the man with her grey 2007 Nissan 35oz.

The vehicle was later found abandoned near the intersection of 19th and Court streets, about a half-mile away from the crash site.

Further investigation led to the identification of the driver, Nancy Diana Flores, of Paramount.

Flores was taken into custody in Paramount on suspicion of manslaughter and hit-and-run resulting in death.
