Historic Annenberg Estate Outside Palm Springs Opens To The Public
PALM SPRINGS (CBS) — A historic estate owned by the Annenberg family in the desert outside Palm Springs was once a retreat for heads of state and A-list celebrities but it won't be long before the public can also enter the pink walls of Sunnylands. It's a must-see for its midcentury modern architecture on a 200-acre property featuring gardens and a golf course.
In decades past, seven presidents and Queen Elizabeth II vacationed here and the crème de la crème of Old Hollywood, including Bing Crosby, Sammy Davis Jr., Bob Hope and Clark Gable, came to Sunnylands to relax.
Sunnylands opens to the public on March 1. Guests can tour the historic residence and estate, the new visitors center, and the arid-landscape. More information can be found here: http://sunnylands.org/
Under the terms of a trust, Sunnylands will open this month as a place for national and foreign dignitaries to meet for meetings and retreats.
