Hiker Critically Injured After Falling 30 Feet From Eaton Canyon Waterfall
PASADENA (CBSLA.com) — A 21-year-old Alhambra woman was hospitalized Tuesday after falling 30 feet from a waterfall in Eaton Canyon.
A crew with the Pasadena Fire Department rescued the victim, who fell around 5:30 p.m. Monday, according to Lt. Brian Fitch of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
The woman, who broke both of her legs and suffered severe head injuries, had been hiking with a friend who suffered minor injuries.
Both women were transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital.
"Unfortunately, a lot of hikers underestimate mother nature," Pasadena Fire Department spokeswoman Lisa Derderian said, noting that hikers are often injured in Eaton Canyon.
