High Winds Topple Trees Across Parts Of SoCal
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — High winds have toppled trees across parts of Southern California, damaging at least one vehicle in Mar Vista overnight.
Video footage captured the damage as a large tree came down upon a compact vehicle on McLaughlin Avenue and Palms Boulevard, according to KNX 1070's Ed Mertz.

In Northridge, another tree and some branches came down at Hayvenhurst Avenue and Nordhoff Street also overnight.
And in Studio City, a tree came down on Moorpark Street and Coldwater Canyon Boulevard on Sunday morning, partially blocking the roadway. CBS2 Chief Meteorologist Josh Rubenstein reports that firefighters were clearing it off a power line.
"It's kind of unusual to see the pattern we have here," said Meteorologist Kurt Kaplan with the National Weather Service (NWS). "We usually see our Santa Ana season from September usually to the beginning of April. Obviously, we're passed that point."
According to the NWS, wind gusts of up to 73 miles per hour were experienced overnight in Malibu.
The winds also sent several utility crews scrambling to several unplanned power outages; specifically, in West Los Angeles, where close to 1,800 customer were left in the dark late Saturday, according to City News Service (CNS). A wind-related outage was reported in Inglewood as well, according to CNS.
Meanwhile, the NWS has issued a red flag warning for the mountains and valleys of Ventura and Los Angeles counties due to anticipated gusty winds and low humidity.
The NWS says wind gusts between 45 and 55 miles per hour are possible with the strongest winds occurring on Sunday morning through afternoon.
The warning is set to expire at 8 p.m. on Monday.
