High-Tech Public School Opening In Torrance

TORRANCE (CBS) — One of the most technologically advanced public schools in the country will soon be opening in Torrance.

J.H. Hull Middle School will be Torrance Unified School District's first new facility in 40-years.

LCD projectors are suspended from the ceilings and connected to teachers' laptops and every classroom has a smart board.

"I think it's amazing how we can do all that with the smart boards and just get students more excited about learning," said student Lauren Colclasure.

The school is also green with systems called solar chimneys that expel warm air and bring in ocean breezes, which should cut the need for air conditioning.

The $20 million project came in on budget.
