High Surf Advisory In Effect For L.A., Orange Counties

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Waves of up to 8 feet are expected to pound Los Angeles and Orange county shores Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

As the swell builds, high surf was expected along southwest-and west-facing beaches, along with powerful rip currents, long-shore currents, sneaker waves and minor beach erosion, the NWS said.

A high surf advisory will be in effect along the Los Angeles and San Diego coasts – as well as in neighboring counties – until 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Surf of 5 to 8 feet is expected, along with some sets of 10 feet, in L.A. and Orange counties.
