High-Rise Gets All-Clear After Suspicious Package Is Found And Destroyed
CENTURY CITY (CBS) — A high-rise was evacuated Thursday afternoon in Century City following reports of a suspicious package found inside the building.
The evacuation was ordered around 3:30 p.m. at 1925 Century Park East, reportedly due to a package brought or delivered to a FedEx office in the lobby of the building.
Bomb squad units were dispatched to the scene.
Late Thursday evening, police said "a device" was destroyed.
They wouldn't go into details about what the device was but said "nothing exploded," according to Sgt. Rich Brunson of the Los Angeles Police Department's West Los Angeles station.
The area was given the all-clear about two and a half hours after the evacuation was ordered.
Brunson added, "I believe officers are knocking on a potential suspect's door right now."
