Help Needed To Find Torrance Carjacker
TORRANCE (CBSLA.com) — Police asked for the public's help in finding a carjacker captured on camera.
The carjacking happened at about 7:15 a.m. on Jan. 4 in the 24600 block of Park Street, Torrance police officials said.
Police say the victim was opening the door of his parked 2004 Honda Accord when a hard object was shoved against his back and he was told not to move. The carjacker then told him to move out of the way of the door and took his keys from him, then got into the car and drove away. The car was last seen going east on Newton Street.
The victim's wallet was in the car at the time of the carjacking, and police say the suspect has tried to use the victim's bank cards on two separate occasions.
Police are searching for two suspects. The first was described as a Hispanic man who smokes cigarettes, between 30 and 35 years old, 5-foot-6, with dark short hair, wearing a dark coat. The second suspect was also described as a Hispanic man between 30 and 35 years old and wearing a dark coat. The carjackers drove a gray 2000s Chevrolet Malibu, according to Torrance police.
Anyone with information about the man's identity or the carjacking can contact Torrance Police at (310) 618-5570.
