'Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas' Songwriter Dies At 96
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Hugh Martin, the composer-songwriter whose works included "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and "The Trolley Song," died Friday. He was 96.
Martin's niece, Suzanne Hanners, says the songwriter died from natural causes at his home in Encinitas, Calif.
Martin co-wrote the music from "Meet Me in St. Louis" with songwriting partner Ralph Blane. His other film and Broadway credits included "Best Foot Forward," "Make a Wish," "High Spirits" and "Hooray for What!"
Martin wrote about his show business exploits in his 2010 autobiography, "Hugh Martin: The Boy Next Door."
