'Harmony Of Compassion' Concert To Benefit Han-Schneider Foundation, Orphans In Need

STUDIO CITY (CBSLA.com) — Arthur Han, executive director of the Han-Schneider International Children's Foundation, stopped KCAL9 Tuesday to talk about an upcoming concert aimed at spreading awareness about malnutrition and hunger issues plaguing children around the world, especially in North Korea.

The foundation has partnered with the Los Angeles Korean Musicians' Association to host "Harmony of Compassion", a peace concert for the orphans of North Korea.

It will feature four internationally-acclaimed soloists: Yeongmi Kim, Robert MacNeil, A-Kyeong Lee and Young Bok Kim. They will be accompanied by the L.A. Korean Philharmonic Orchestra and the LAKMA choir.

The music program will celebrate the 200th birthday of well-known Italian opera composer Giuseppe Verdi and highlight one of his most famous works, Requiem.

The concert will be held this Friday at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles. Tickets are available at: www.han-schneider.org. They are complimentary, but donations will be accepted depending on seating section, ranging between $20-$100. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m.

All proceeds from the concert will benefit the foundation and ongoing food shipments to orphans in North Korea, Cambodia and Tanzania.
