'Haggler Bandit' Allegedly Linked To Series Of Bank Robberies In 10 Days
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The so-called "Haggler Bandit" allegedly struck again in Los Angeles Friday, robbing a bank and attempting to steal from another, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The suspect reportedly robbed a Citibank branch at 300 S. Fairfax Avenue and tried to steal from a Chase bank at 100 N. La Cienega Boulevard, said Laura Eimiller.
Authorities said he threatened tellers with a gun in the attempted robbery.
On Thursday, the bandit robbed a Chase bank in Monrovia and attempted to rob a Wells Fargo branch in Pasadena.
The incidents started Aug. 22 at a Citibank in Pasadena.
The "Haggler Bandit" was given the nickname by bank tellers who said he "haggled" over the amount of money he expected to get based on his demand for cash, according to Eimiller.
The suspect allegedly passes a note to the victim teller during the crime.
Police described the robber as a black man in his late 20s to early 40s, between 5'8" and 6', and 150 to 170 pounds.
Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to contact the FBI or the Pasadena, Monrovia, or Los Angeles police departments.
