Gunman Wounded After Firing At Deputies In Bellflower
BELLFLOWER (CBS) — A man was hospitalized Thursday in critical condition following a deputy-involved shooting in Bellflower.
Shots were fired at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 8800 block of Oak Street, Lt. Holly Francisco of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said in an advisory issued.
Just before the shooting, deputies had apparently arrived on scene to investigate a report of a man looking into cars.
Upon arrival, they confronted a person matching the suspect description and a brief foot pursuit ensued, authorities said.
Moments later, that's when deputies say, the suspect grabbed a firearm from his waistband and shot at them. The deputies fired back, striking the suspect multiple times.
No one else was injured in the shootout.
Francisco says the suspect's gun was recovered at the scene.
