Gunman Sought In Attack That Left Man, 23, Permanently Brain Damaged
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Police Saturday released images of a man suspected in a brutal attack that left a man permanently brain damaged and his mother wounded.
The incident at a South Los Angeles home on Main and 99th streets occurred about 9:50 p.m. on Jan. 28, according to police with the LAPD Media Relations Section.
According to police, four children were playing in front of the home when they saw the shooter coming and hid in a closet.
That's when police say the gunman forced his way into the home and pulled the 23-year-old victim to the sidewalk where he shot him several times, including once in the head.
The suspect then aimed his gun at the victim's mother who was pleading with him for her son's life.
She was shot multiple times.
Both victims were transported to an area hospital where they remain hospitalized.
The woman is in stable condition and according to police, her son remains in critical but stable condition with permanent brain damage.
The suspect, whose image was recovered from video cameras in the area, is described as a thin black male in his 20s with a light complexion. He is roughly 6'2" tall.
Anyone with more information is asked to contact Detective Iris Romero (213) 972-7923. Those wishing to remain anonymous may dial (800) 222-TIPS.
