Grammy Trip Means Reunion For Oklahoma Mother, Biological Daughter
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Theresa Schon won an all-expense paid trip for two from her home in Oklahoma to Los Angeles and tickets for Sunday night's Grammy Awards, but it's who she decided to take that makes it even more special.
"She asked me if I wanted to go to the Grammys," said Elizabeth Bronder, Schon's biological daughter, "and I said, 'What?!'
Bronder and Schon have not been able to spend much time together since they were reunited several years ago.
"We've just had a lot of fun together, and this is the first time I've been able to even visit with her," Schon said.
Schon gave up Bronder for adoption at birth. Although they have seen each other a few times before, this is the first time they have spent extended time together — three days in the LA sunshine and tickets to music's biggest night.
"It's just been really nice, this is the first time we've spent so much time together," Bronder said. "The first time that we met ... it was just real quick."
"This is the fourth time since, well, I saw her at birth," Schon said, crying.
The trip is an opportunity for the pair to make up for lost time and make new memories here in Los Angeles.
Schon and Bronder are two of 80 contest winners from 40 CBS affiliates nationwide who received an all-expense paid trip to this year's Grammys courtesy of CBS.
