Gov. Brown: Texas Gov. Rick Perry's Radio Ad 'Barely A Fart'
SACRAMENTO (CBSLA.com) — Gov. Jerry Brown Tuesday compared a radio advertisement that criticized business in the Golden State released by Texas Gov. Rick Perry to…flatulence.
"You take a little radio ad and all you guys run like lap dogs to report it. (The radio ad) is not a burp. It's barely a fart," Brown said.
The governor's colorful comments come one day after Perry first broadcast the radio spots in California, which encouraged businesses to relocate to the Lone Star State.
"Building a business is tough, but I hear building a business in California is next to impossible," Perry voiced in the ad. "Low taxes, sensible regulations, and a fair legal system are just the thing to get your business moving to Texas."
The $26,000 ad campaign is airing on stations in San Francisco, Sacramento and three other media markets in the state.
Brown, however, doesn't appear to be worried about any kind of business migration.
"A lot of these Texans that come here, they don't go back. I mean, who would want to spend summers there in 110-degree heat inside some kind of fossil fuel air conditioner? Not a smart way to go," he said.
Perry's ad, and Brown's reaction, is the latest in a longstanding back-and-forth between the two governors about which state is better for business.
