GOP Spends $3 Million On TV Blitz For Senate Seat
WASHINGTON (AP) — National Republicans are spending big in the
U.S. Senate race in California, directing another $3 million toward a round of television ads in the campaign's final week.
Amber Marchand, a spokeswoman with the National Republican Senatorial Committee, says the organization has now spent nearly $8 million in support of Republican challenger Carly Fiorina.
Polls show her gaining ground on Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer, who is seeking a fourth term.
The national GOP typically directs its time and money elsewhere, in part because Democrats enjoy a wide registration edge over Republicans in California. Marchand said Monday that the spending demonstrates the committee's confidence in Fiorina's ability to win.
