Good Samaritan Rescues 3 After Car Crashes Into Swimming Pool In Yorba Linda
YORBA LINDA (CBSLA.com) — A Good Samaritan rescued an elderly woman and her two granddaughters Tuesday afternoon after their car crashed into a swimming pool outside a Yorba Linda home.
The incident happened around 2:40 p.m. at 5525 Bayberry Way.
A 66-year-old woman was driving with her grandchildren, ages 6 and 9, when she lost control of the vehicle, crashed through a brick wall and went down a steep backyard into a resident's pool.
Neighbor Anita Campbell said she took quick action when she heard a loud explosion and the girls crying.
"The grandmother was driving and I couldn't get the doors open in the car. Luckily, the two windows on the passenger side were open. I had the girls unbuckle and come out to me. Then the grandmother…got her through the window," she said.
Campbell added, "It was just timing. I just felt I needed to get them out of the car as fast as I could."
The victims were transported to the hospital in stable condition.
Witnesses, who told KCAL9's Brittney Hopper the grandmother said her brakes went out, said everyone is lucky to be alive.
"I can't believe the car went through the brick wall. I honestly thought the car was just going to hit the brick wall and stop right there," said Victor Altamirano.
