Reality TV Star Pins Fleeing Pursuit Suspect Against Fence With Truck In Van Nuys
VAN NUYS (CBSLA.com) — A good Samaritan in a red pickup, who helped officers by cutting off a pursuit suspect who had fled on foot on Monday, is a reality TV star.
Lou Pizarro of 'Operation Repo' fame aided LAPD officers who were chasing a stolen-vehicle suspect through the streets of Van Nuys when he pinned the suspect against a fence with his truck.
The pursuit, which started when LAPD officers realized the pursuit vehicle was evidently stolen, escalated after the suspect crashed into the back of another vehicle near the intersection of Valjean Avenue and Sherman Way in Van Nuys.
The suspect then got out of the black BMW, hopped the divider of the busy road and led officers on a foot pursuit.
The suspect initially attempted to flee on a skateboard but then decided to pick up the board and continue on foot.
As the suspect crossed another road, a red pickup attempted to cut him off, succeeding in slowing him down.
The suspect then ran into a nearby neighborhood, at which point Pizarro, behind the wheel of a large, red pickup truck, then pulled directly in his path, pinning him against a fence.
Officers were then quick to subdue the suspect and take him into custody.
"It's just instinct, just to block the guy off and slow him down a little bit," Pizarro told CBS2's Brittney Hopper. "The cops are doing their job and it's not easy, so every little bit of help they can get from people like myself, it goes a long way."
Pizarro appeared in over a hundred episodes of the show 'Operation Repo' between 2007 and 2014.
