'Golden Years Bandit' Gets 5 Years For Bank Heists
LOS ANGELES (AP) — A federal judge has sentenced Southern California's "Golden Years Bandit" to five years in prison.
The Los Angeles judge on Monday also ordered 59-year-old William McCormick Jr. of El Monte to pay $26,700 restitution for the San Gabriel Valley bank heists last year.
The Pasadena Star-News says McCormick pleaded guilty in December to robbing banks in Rosemead, San Gabriel and Alhambra.
He was dubbed the "Golden Years Bandit" by the FBI, which is still looking for another elder bank robber dubbed the "Geezer Bandit." The FBI has seen an increase in the number of older bank robbers.
