Glendora Remains Under Flooding Alert Ahead Of Second Storm
GLENDORA (CBSLA.com) — The Colby Fire burn area Tuesday withstood the first of two rounds of expected rain.
Officials fear there could be mudslides in the area, mainly concentrated in a neighborhood on Rainbow Drive. It remains under a yellow level alert as a second round of precipitation is anticipated from Tuesday night into Wednesday, Glendora police said.
"There could be the possibility of thunderstorms associated with this which could cause heavier downpours that may cause light mud flows in some areas of the Colby Fire impact area," officials added.
The yellow level alert also includes the area north of Sierra Madre between the western city boundaries of Azusa/Glendora (Yucca Ridge) to the eastern boundary of properties on the west.
Glendora Police Chief Tim Staab said the alert was issued as a precaution after January's Colby Fire chewed up much of the brush that would normally help keep the hillside in place.
Parking restrictions remain in effect and residents have been asked to remove trash cans from the roadway following scheduled removal service.
K-rails have also been added to neighborhood streets.
No evacuation orders have been issued.
